Spot Cleaning Reference Guide

How to use this guide: Find your spot on the list and use the first solution listed. (See KEY to the LEFT.) If spot improves, continue using. If not, go to next solution.

Spot Removal Procedures
►Act quickly- The Bible says, "Don't let the sun go down on your wrath."  The same can be said about spots on your carpet. Rapid spot removal, combined with frequent vacuuming, proper walk-off mats and regular professional cleaning, will keep carpet healthy and looking great. This care will preserve your textile floor covering investment for years!
►Remove any excess spills from carpet by blotting with a clean white cotton towel and/or by lightly scraping with a spoon. ♦Do not scrub the area♦ Solid spills may need to be broken up, then vacuumed.
►Pretest any spot removal solution in an inconspicuous area first for color-fastness and fiber texture changes.
►Apply a small amount of selected cleaning solution to clean white towel and gently work in from the edges toward the center of the spot. BLOT, don't scrub! Repeat as necessary.
►Once the spill has been removed, rinse with clean towel and cool water. Blot dry.

►If spot persists after spotting efforts- apply folded, absorbent white towel to affected area. Leave weighted object on towel overnight. Color transfer onto towel means spot is traveling via capillary action into the towel!
